Rihanna Teases 'You Da One' Video With New Still

Rihanna in her video for "You Da One"

By Jocelyn Vena (@)

Rihanna is giving fans a taste of what they should expect from her forthcoming "You Da One" video. Over the weekend, the Talk That Talk singer tweeted a still from the clip.

"#YOUDAONEVIDEO you know im already in trouble 4 this but, i like to keep yall in the loop," she wrote in the tweet, which also included a photo of Rihanna, topless, leaning back in a chair as she blows smoke into the air. It's a similar image to her deluxe-edition album cover, where she looks into the camera, also topless and blowing smoke.
Helmed by her "We Found Love" director Melina Matsoukas, Rihanna dropped a behind-the-scenes video earlier this month. In the clip, filmed while the singer was on her Loud Tour, a mold is taken of her teeth to create a fanged grill for the video.
"I'm getting a grill made for an upcoming video shoot for 'You Da One,' but I only want the bottom done with fangs, and they have to make a mold so they can send it to New Castle, ship it from New Castle, get it made, and then send it back to London for the video," she explained, giving no other details about the grill's presence in the video.
Some photos from the set also leaked around the same time. Wearing a short blond wig with blunt bangs, Rihanna dons a tight white tank top, denim shorts, bold black tights with the word "Boy" written on them in white and a white bowler hat. The look fits the wardrobe she's been wearing during this album phase, which is very street and punk-inspired.
"You Da One" is the second single off the album. Produced by Dr. Luke, it follows up the success of "We Found Love."
"This is one of those records, it becomes very addictive," she said about the track. "To me, it's very infectious: The more you listen to it, the more you want to listen to it. It had a reggae vibe, but it's a sweet little love letter. I love the record. It's kind of dirty, I love it."

Rihanna says "You Da One"

Pop superstar Rihanna has been burning up the airwaves with the latest single off her Talk that Talk album, "You Da One." I'll admit, you'll either love her vocal on this track or hate it. Me personally I love it. The highlight of the song is the beat, which features dub-step elements. (She has 3 songs featuring dub-step sounds on the album.) There's no stoppin Robyn, so check her out. The Year in Pop: Adele Makes History

For the first time, a woman earns three of Billboard's biggest year-end charts honors: No. 1 on Top Artists, the No. 1 Billboard 200 Album and the No. 1 Hot 100 song. The woman, of course, is Adele. The album: "21." The song: "Rolling in the Deep" (both on XL/Columbia). Since Billboard added the top overall artist category to its year-end recaps in 1981, no woman has ever pulled off the triple crown win until this year.

Previous to 2011, there were only four years where one artist swept the top three pop categories. In 2004, Usher did it with his album Confessions and single "Yeah!" (featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris). The previous year, 50 Cent managed the feat with the album "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" and single "In Da Club."

Only one other man, George Michael, claimed the top trio of accolades, with his "Faith" album and title track in 1988. Ace of Base is the lone group to achieve all three, with its album "The Sign" and title cut in 1994.

Aside from Adele, the only time a woman has earned the No. 1 titles on both the year-end Billboard 200 and Hot 100 recaps was in 1993. That year, Whitney Houston reigned with the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" and the ubiquitous "I Will Always Love You" single.

Adele simply took over Billboard's charts in 2011, storming both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100. Her "21" album, released Feb. 22, debuted at No. 1 on the former tally and has spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks atop the list. Two of its singles, "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You," spent seven and five weeks at No. 1, respectively, on the Hot 100.

While "21" could certainly return to No. 1, its 13 weeks in the penthouse mark the most weeks atop the list since the soundtrack to "Titanic" spent 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1998.

Adele's triumph as the top artist of 2011 also rewrites a bit of history: This is the third year in a row where a woman takes home the honors. That's the longest women have ruled the Top Artists chart. Adele follows Lady Gaga (2010) and Taylor Swift (2009).

Also in 2011, for the first time, all four of the top artists on the year-end Top Artists recap are solo female acts. Following Adele at No. 1 are Rihanna, Katy Perry and last year's champ, Lady Gaga, at Nos. 2-4, respectively. Truly, it was the year of the woman on Billboard's pop charts.

While women rule Top Artists, the top-ranked male is Lil Wayne, who comes in at No. 5 and is the top male artist. His album "Tha Carter IV" (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Republic) ranks at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 Albums recap, while he also places six titles on the Hot 100 Songs roundup (Nos. 21, 23, 41, 47, 53 and 95).

Also on the Hot 100 Songs tally, below Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" at No. 1 is LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (Party Rock/will.i.am/Cherrytree/Interscope), featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, at No. 2. It was LMFAO's first top 10 single, and spent six weeks at No. 1 during the summer.

Behind LMFAO at Nos. 3 and 4 are two former No. 1 singles from Katy Perry: "Firework" and "E.T." (featuring Kanye West), both on Capitol. Seeing an artist takeover the upper reaches of the year-end Hot 100 tally has been a recurring theme over the past few years. In 2009, Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas controlled the top four, each placing a pair of singles within the region.

The Black Eyed Peas rank at No. 11 on Top Artists' marking the first time there hasn't been a duo or group among the top 10 artists of the year in the 30 years Billboard has been compiling the overall top artist category.

Superstar DJ Tiesto

If you're not up on Tiesto, he's one of the world's most popular DJ's. He spins the world's hottest dance music and always has access to the music the average fan wouldn't have....which is a key point of being a DJ.

In the February issue of the U.K. dance-music magazine Mixmag, veteran producer Tiësto is named the Greatest DJ of All Time, a title bestowed upon him by fans voting in a poll that began back in September. According to Mixmag, hundreds of thousands of clubbers were asked to vote and debate 35 DJs, each one nominated by big names in dance music. Some 80,000 votes were collected, and King Tiësto emerged with the crown.

That Tiësto should be considered the Greatest DJ of All Time should come as no surprise to dance-music fans, given his relentless touring schedule. Just last year, his Kaleidoscope Tour spanned 15 months, seeing him play 175 dates across six continents and performing for more than a million people. He was nominated for two Billboard Touring Awards (alongside folks like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber) and was among Billboard's Top 25 Biggest Grossing Touring Acts of 2010. As a result, he has been a fixture on basically every DJ poll of the past decade. Since 2002, he has been in the top three of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll, including three times at #1.
Coupled with his touring efforts, the onetime trance DJ has had an evolution in his sound, opening him up to a larger audience by incorporating elements of house music (some fans call his music "trouse"). His last studio disc, Kaleidoscope, featured vocals by Nelly Furtado, Tegan and Sara, Jonsi from Sigur Rós, and Yele from Block Party. His single "Feel It" with Three 6 Mafia, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida went gold. "C'Mon," his single with Major Lazer producer Diplo, was the talk of WMC last year, and Busta Rhymes would eventually lend his vocals to the song.
"He sells out stadiums but never comes across as big-headed or arrogant," EDM DJ/producer Sander Van Doorn told Mixmag. "He's very approachable, asking questions about music, giving tips and honest opinions."
"He's a new friend," house producer Afrojack told MTV News recently. "He's a nice guy. Just like David [Guetta]. They are both nice guys. Like really, really nice guys."
This week, MTV News caught up with Guetta, who revealed yet another dimension to Tiësto's greatness: While Guetta has achieved success here with the help of American radio, Tiësto has done it all on his own.
"We're actually good friends," Guetta said. "I have nothing but respect for him and friendship. When I see those shows, it's unbelievable. We kind of pull the same kind numbers, but I have massive hits on the radio, and for him to be able to do what he does, without having crossover records, it's incredible. I respect that a lot."
Tiësto will begin his residency at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel & Casino later this year and will be dropping his Club Life mix album in the next few months.

Youth Lagoon - Cannons

Ran into this song after a recommendation. A dreamy kind of track. They have an experimental lo-fi kind of sound. If you like this song then you'll love Youth Lagoon and his band. All of his music is laid back just like this. Here's a link so you can have listen and decide if you want to add this to into your rotation.

Dub Step vs. Bro Step

With all these divisions and arguments over what is "real" dubstep and what is not has reached overdrive with Skirllex being nominated for 5 Grammy Awards. Let me comment on that please people. I compare the differences between American dubstep and UK dubstep to the differnces between the ascension of California gangsta rap in the late 80's/early 90's and New York's brand of swag at the time. Two completley different sounds, but it was all the same genre, even though the way the sounds were used and the sounds themselves were a bit different. The New York heads said it wasn't hiphop and artists such as Ice Cube said fuck you and your city. At the end of the day, hip hop as an industry was still a baby, especially when compared to jazz, rock and other genres. It needed time to develop and was finding it's way, and the West Coast artists ended up contributing to the artform tremendously as much as the South, the MidWest & of course the East Coast. Dubstep as a genre may have been born in the late 90's but has really only come into it's own seriously   (as in attention from the masses ) in the past 6 years or so. It's like the state of rock in the 60's. The greatest songs in rock history mostly were written many years after rock started getting it's own bandwagon jumpers. Most of the greatest songs in hip hop came along at least 10 years after "Rappers Delight" (The first rap hit, not rap song). Being that dubstep is only a baby right now, it needs time to develop and grow, and in order to survive, all things need to grow and change. Everything in the world that lives (and music lives) grows up and changes. The rock of the 80's and 90's didn't sound anything like the stuff from the 60's and 70's, and the rap music of today doesn't sound anything like the rap of the 80's and 90's. Say what you want about quality since it's all subjective anyway, but the fact of the matter is dubstep is growing and coming in to it's own. Instead of bitching and complaining, be happy that people are bringing the art form to the forefront so it gets the respect it deserves. Some people like the Doors, and some people like Korn, but it's all Rock n Roll. Some people like KRS One, some people like vintage Ice Cube, but it's all hip hop baby. So just shut jup and enjoy the music. Dubstep has been created by our British friends across the pond and the same way the Rolling Stones and The Beatles advanced the form with completley different styles from 50's era Elvis (The King of Rock mind you) and Chuck Berry, it was still Rock n Roll. Stop being so technical and let's get to party rockin' cuz that's what this is about. Theres no such thing as brostep, forget all these 5 million genres of music. It's all dubstep to me, whether it's Skrillex, Skream, Rusko, Bassnecter, Vaccine, El-B, Plastician (Plasticman), Cyberoptix, Magnetic Man, Horsepower, Ikonica etc etc. blah bl;ah blah. Have a nice day and stop bitchin'.  P.S.: Rusko said to blame him for brostep.
