Dub Step vs. Bro Step

With all these divisions and arguments over what is "real" dubstep and what is not has reached overdrive with Skirllex being nominated for 5 Grammy Awards. Let me comment on that please people. I compare the differences between American dubstep and UK dubstep to the differnces between the ascension of California gangsta rap in the late 80's/early 90's and New York's brand of swag at the time. Two completley different sounds, but it was all the same genre, even though the way the sounds were used and the sounds themselves were a bit different. The New York heads said it wasn't hiphop and artists such as Ice Cube said fuck you and your city. At the end of the day, hip hop as an industry was still a baby, especially when compared to jazz, rock and other genres. It needed time to develop and was finding it's way, and the West Coast artists ended up contributing to the artform tremendously as much as the South, the MidWest & of course the East Coast. Dubstep as a genre may have been born in the late 90's but has really only come into it's own seriously   (as in attention from the masses ) in the past 6 years or so. It's like the state of rock in the 60's. The greatest songs in rock history mostly were written many years after rock started getting it's own bandwagon jumpers. Most of the greatest songs in hip hop came along at least 10 years after "Rappers Delight" (The first rap hit, not rap song). Being that dubstep is only a baby right now, it needs time to develop and grow, and in order to survive, all things need to grow and change. Everything in the world that lives (and music lives) grows up and changes. The rock of the 80's and 90's didn't sound anything like the stuff from the 60's and 70's, and the rap music of today doesn't sound anything like the rap of the 80's and 90's. Say what you want about quality since it's all subjective anyway, but the fact of the matter is dubstep is growing and coming in to it's own. Instead of bitching and complaining, be happy that people are bringing the art form to the forefront so it gets the respect it deserves. Some people like the Doors, and some people like Korn, but it's all Rock n Roll. Some people like KRS One, some people like vintage Ice Cube, but it's all hip hop baby. So just shut jup and enjoy the music. Dubstep has been created by our British friends across the pond and the same way the Rolling Stones and The Beatles advanced the form with completley different styles from 50's era Elvis (The King of Rock mind you) and Chuck Berry, it was still Rock n Roll. Stop being so technical and let's get to party rockin' cuz that's what this is about. Theres no such thing as brostep, forget all these 5 million genres of music. It's all dubstep to me, whether it's Skrillex, Skream, Rusko, Bassnecter, Vaccine, El-B, Plastician (Plasticman), Cyberoptix, Magnetic Man, Horsepower, Ikonica etc etc. blah bl;ah blah. Have a nice day and stop bitchin'.  P.S.: Rusko said to blame him for brostep.
